System requirements

Operating system

  • Microsoft Windows 10 or later (compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows)
  • 256 MB of RAM
  • 75 MB of available hard-disk space for the software; your database file may require additional space of up to 750 MB (to accommodate a large database).
  • Monitor size 13″ or larger

Other system software

None (Note: Microsoft Access Runtime is included and is installed automatically along with the application.)

Other application software

Microsoft Office (any version, but 32-bit Office only; not compatible with 64-bit Office). MS Office is required for the Word Merge and Mail Merge features that are available with RIGHTS 20|20 (also with That’s Rights! and EasyRoyalties)

Conflicts

Compatible with Microsoft Office 32-bit. Cannot be installed on systems where MIcrosoft Office 64-bit has been installed.

Client/server configuration

RIGHTS 20|20 (and the legacy versions of That’s Rights! and EasyRoyalties) are configured as client/server applications with the database contained in a separate back-end file from the user interface (i.e. the “client”).

The client software is installed separately for each user. In a single-user environment, the database may reside on the same workstation as the client; in a multi-user environment, the database file is located in a common shared area (e.g. on a file server).

Data access is managed by the client’s processor (not the server’s), so no special platform considerations apply to the server where the database is located.

Remote access

In RIGHTS 20|20 (as well as in That’s Rights! and EasyRoyalties before that), the database should reside on the same Local Area Network as the client applications (i.e. the users and the database should all be on the same LAN). Accessing the database remotely over an internet connection may lead to problems with the database if the connection fails or is not sufficiently fast. For installations where remote access is frequently required, the recommended solution is to set up remote Windows desktop  accounts on a Windows/Terminal Server. (Special installation procedure required; please contact us for more information).
